Corona adjustments for the Vechtsebanen
We can go back on the ice and our lessons will start from Saturday 10 October. To ensure that the classes and your visit to the ice rink go well, taking into account the guidelines of the RIVM, it is important to read the following.
- arrive well in time for your lesson. Only one turnstile is open and a limited number of people are allowed in the hallway, you may have to wait outside to get in
- come to the ice rink in skating clothes, the changing rooms are closed;
- we are working without ribbons this season;
- we no longer do the layout as a whole on the ice. Instead, the instructors indicate with signs which group they are teaching in terms of level and/or age. To help you make an estimate, we have set out features below. It is of course important that you are in the right group, so after your first assessment you can always consult with your instructor and possibly shift;
- you can, if necessary, help your child(ren) to put on the skates, but the intention is that parents do not stay around the track to watch.
Division into 2 level groups
Basic level (basic level to low middle group)
You may assign yourself to the basic group if you:
- want to start (again) at the basics
- stands longer on 2 skates than on 1 skate when you are riding
- submission still has to learn on the straight; start of lateral push-off
- not yet able to 'step over' or not yet very well (dares), leg crossing is not yet smooth, you cannot yet cross a complete bend
- drives 1-2 laps with a maximum of 4 laps in a row
- stroke is still irregular, strokes are short
- want to take frequent breaks
Intermediate high/advanced level
You can join this group if you:
- stands longer on 1 skate than on 2 skates when you are riding
- can send in and have a (start of) sideways take-off
- you can leg over, several strokes in a row up to and including a smooth bend leg over
- drive 3-5 laps with a maximum of 6-8 laps in a row, at a brisk pace
- stroke is regular, makes long strokes
- want to drive a lot with longer driving assignments

- can send in and have a (start of) sideways take-off
- 'leg over' succeeds but is still difficult, it is possible to make several turns in succession, a complete turn is just not possible
- drives 2-4 laps with a maximum of 5 laps in a row at a nice pace
- stroke is irregular to regular, long strokes sometimes work, sometimes not
Advanced level
You can place yourself in the advanced group if you:
- want to go through the basics very briefly
- stands longer on 1 skate than on 2 skates when you are riding
- steers in on the straight; lateral take-off is largely controlled
- you can step over, a smooth bend leg over
- drive 4-6 laps in a row with a maximum of 6-10 laps, at a brisk pace
- stroke is regular, makes long strokes
- want to drive a lot with long driving commands
- if you actually always ride on the inside of the track, you are one of the fastest skaters.
